Our time together in the Cotswolds was coming to an end. On June 29, 2016, Gym would leave Mrs. Gym at Buckland Manor for a planned campaign of conquest in Scotland. Mrs. Gym would stay a couple of more nights in Buckland Manor with Oscar and his team, before leaving the area too.
We would miss Oscar, the beautiful gardens, the great restaurant and the wonderful service at the manor. We would also miss the villages of Buckland, Broadway and Snowshill which we linked with our hikes up over the Cotswold Trail and across the beautiful rural countryside. It is definitely a charming part of Britain.

The last supper at the premier table in the dining room. At dinner we always got the back table
in front of the bay windows. |
After my departure but before joining the Anderson's, Mrs. Gym would climb up to the Cotswold Trail again and hike on the same trails that we had discovered earlier on the trip. She could now move at a decent pace, no longer fettered by the Gym anchor.

I think the following pictures might give you an idea of the wonderful English/French cuisine we were eating at the Manor:
|
This was our last lunch together and it took place during tea time, so our
egg salad sandwich and scones with jam were a major production... but most appreciated. |
|
This is a wonderful soup we had at dinner one night and it used a
generous layer of foam with bonus truffle oil on the top |
|
This was my favourite thing. It was a smoked trout dish with crab and a
number of other things as you can see. The plate on the right covered the bowl when it
came out and smoke escaped from the inside of the bowl that was
pleasing to the olfactory and visual senses. |

Again, a beautiful plate |
Mostly we would miss the great service and attentive staff which included Simon, James, Dave and their boss Oscar.

Seriously though, thank you Simon (the real boss) and James (the lead when Simon takes a rare day off).
I am going to add some more to this post to cover off the time that Mrs. Gym and the author spent on their time apart but as I finish this post I am late again. It is three months later and we are off on another exciting adventure.
