Anambas Islands

We presently have the Anambas Islands due east off the port side of the ship and have made tremendous progress today as we have sailed almost due south from Vietnam in calm waters with Indonesia and Malaysia sharing the territorial rights to our sea route. Kuala Lumpur is due west from our current position and the Singapore Strait is the first right-hand turn out of the South China Sea, a turn which will lead us to Singapore, which is our next port-of-call.

The weather is fine like the sea and the temperature outside is 77 degrees F with 85% humidity. We ate on the Terrace tonight, which is an open-air restaurant on the 9th deck. Unfortunately, we just missed the sunset.

At long last my dear wife has earned her sea legs and the movement does not seem to bother her any more. Last night though it was a little bouncy coming out of the Mekong River delta but she persevered and then took a happy pill before retiring. Today there have been no issues.

I have little to report today. I was doing my best to stay out of the sun and Linda got a little color in spite of the lathering of sunscreen. Let’s face it though, we are at 3 degrees North latitude and when we reach Singapore we will essentially be right on the equator. This is weird for a pasty white guy from 51 degrees North latitude. I have never been here before. If spontaneous combustion is a natural phenomenon then it will probably happen to me tomorrow.

If you do not get a blog tomorrow you will know why.
